Week of April 28

What's Weird ATX

In partnership with

Last week, we had the annual pilgrimage for Eeyore's Birthday; can you believe it’s been going on for SIXTY years? Sixty years of grown adults in questionable costumes banging drums in a park for a clinically depressed donkey! It’s less a party, more a necessary tribal ritual, a primal scream against encroaching normalcy. It was beautiful.

Also, at the Far Out, Psych Fest was a glorious, lysergic swamp of sound and melting visuals, as usual, the kind of place you lose yourself and maybe question reality for a bit. Meanwhile, the Blues Fest was a great mix of legends holding court, guitars weeping, the real deal, soaked in sweat and history. Oh, and a cat circus was in town.

This week the creativity continues, from a chance to sing in a choir tonight to golf and bagpipes and a roast of Darth Vader later in the week. What’s Weird indeed!

Lastly, you may notice our sponsor this week; I don’t know about you, but I try my best to stay away from checking news lately since it kind of stresses me out. 1440 is a great way to stay informed in a quick, easy, and relatively unbiased way. Give em a look!
