TexPOP Gallery and Event Space
For Part 2 of our Holiday Gift Guide, we’re gonna do something a little different! This past weekend, my husband insisted we visit the Planet K arcade on Lamar after a little Taco Deli lunch. We walked in and a young lady was peering from a door inside, asking if we wanted to visit the gallery. We had no idea there was a gallery there!
TexPOP Gallery is actually quite large, and is showcasing an incredible variety of local and Texas artists. It’s also an event space where they host everything from live jazz, open mics to workshops and support groups.
Shell, the curator who welcomed us in, is extremely knowledgeable and on hand to provide amazing Austin artist lore to all the curious!
They are doing a 20% discount on art and workshops sale throughout the month of December, which makes them the ultimate holiday gift destination IMO! I saw incredible pieces at very affordable prices (a great selection of original art from $100, and gorgeous prints available from $10-$20!). Plus, you can take a picture in the PHOTOBOI photobooth (yes that’s us, and our new Xmas pup, there)!
Go give them a follow on IG and pop in Wed-Sun (1-8pm) to browse rotating exhibits, catch a show, or co-work in their creative lounge with free art supplies. All proceeds from art sales and workshops go directly to artists.
