Week of March 31st

What's Weird ATX

The town is starting to heat back up, both literally and figuratively, after SXSW. Enjoy a very full calendar below including an exceptionally Fat Tuesday! Particularly highlighting lots of interesting music as well 🎶

In interesting local news, the Pecan Street Festival is ditching downtown and heading to Bee Cave for its spring thing May 3-4. “Is it even Pecan Street Fest if it's not on old Pecan St?" Fair question. It sounds like those new barriers on Sixth might be why they can't shut down the street like usual.

Some random Austin facts for your next happy hour: Jimmy Buffett wrote "Margaritaville" at what's now High 5 on Anderson. Elijah Wood used to crash in that Victorian across from Bouldin Creek Cafe. And those moonlight towers? Second-hand goods from Detroit, bought back in 1894.

By the way, the immersive theater event (No One* is Watching) I’d been working on and bugging y’all about finally happened last Thursday. We SOLD OUT and it was a great time, thanks to all of you who came! I’ll post an event recap in a future email. I am definitely plotting another one, so if you are curious about immersive theater and you’d like to be involved, reply back to this email!
